St Kitts Brimstone

The star-shaped walls of the hilltop town of Elvas dominate the plains of Portugal’s southern Alentejo region near the border with Spain.

But despite being declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2012, Elvas receives few visitors aside from the occasional Spanish day-tripper.

To try to change this, Portugal’s second largest hotel group, Vila Gale, is spending around five million euros ($6 million) to convert a former convent into a luxury hotel.

St. Kitts will be home to a Six Senses resort that is scheduled to open in 2021. The brand currently does not have a Caribbean resort.

Ground will be broken later this year in La Vallee on the site of a former sugar cane plantation on the northwestern coast of the island.

The Six Senses will be a 30-minute drive from the capital of Basseterre and the international airport.

Viking has ordered up to six additional ocean-going cruise liners to join its fleet by 2027.

It has signed a new agreement with the Fincantieri shipyard to increase its ocean ship order and options from four to 10.

The agreement for the six additional ships is ‘subject to specific conditions’, said Viking, but it didn’t expand upon this statement.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has announced its inaugural year of itineraries. They include cruises in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada and New England.

Ritz-Carlton introduced the concept for the new line in 2017, as a combination of luxury resort and casual yachting vacation.

The first of three cruising yachts is scheduled for a November 2019 debut. It will accommodate up to 298 passengers in 149 suites, each with its own private terrace. Two penthouse suites will feature private whirlpools.
