Holland America Line will deepen its relationship with Oprah Winfrey, picking her to ceremonially name its next ship, the Nieuw Statendam.

The actress, TV host and founder of O the Oprah Magazine will serve as godmother of Nieuw Statendam, with an official dedication to take place “in a private ceremony at a date to be announced.”

Tropical Storm Bud continues to weaken in the Pacific Ocean, but the storm system is still threatening western Mexico with heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding starting Thursday.

According to, the wind speeds of former Hurricane Bud have dropped significantly, but the storm is expected to bring downpours Thursday across the Los Cabos resort region, including Cabo San Lucas.



Spirit Airlines will expand to Greensboro and Asheville, making the North Carolina cities the 66th and 67th destinations in its network. Spirit will fly three Florida routes from each.

The North Carolina flights are part of an ongoing expansion for fast-growing Spirit, which had announced seven other new routes just a week earlier. Combined, the announcements give Spirit a total of one two destinations and 13 new routes. (Scroll to bottom for schedule details on all of the new routes)

Abu Dhabi’s decision to cut tourism and municipality fees will give a boost to tourism and spur investments in the hospitality sector, top executives said on Wednesday.

The Executive Committee of Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved the reduction of tourism fees from 6 per cent to 3.5 per cent and municipality fees from 4 per cent to 2 per cent, according to a report on WAM.
