Less than a year after it re-opened for business, Co. Limerick’s Adare Manor has been named the world’s best luxury hotel.
The five-star was voted ‘Hotel of the Year 2018’ at the Virtuoso ‘Best of the Best Awards 2018’ held in Las Vegas this week.
Adare Manor re-opened last November after a 21-month overhaul and extension that included 42 new rooms, a ballroom and a Tom Fazio-designed golf course.
Air bookings from China to the United States are down 8.4% since the end of March, when the U.S. began imposing tariffs on China, reports flight data analyzer ForwardKeys.
ForwardKeys says group travel has taken the biggest hit.
The data indicates that weekly bookings from China to the U.S. had been up 2% from the last week of February through March 23, when the first tariffs took effect.
The release this week of Crazy Rich Asians has been hailed as a win for Asian and Asian-American representation in Hollywood. And it’s a win also for the place where much of the film is set: Singapore.

Nearly seven years after Gov. John Hickenlooper first enunciated the need for a facility in Colorado where next-generation space vehicles can routinely launch and land — ferrying satellites and star-bound tourists into suborbital space — federal regulators have granted Spaceport Colorado its operator license.
Adams County spokesman Jim Siedlecki said the Federal Aviation Administration’s approval came through Friday. A formal announcement on the license is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Adams County government headquarters.
