Nordic low-cost carrier Primera Air abruptly ended its operations at midnight Monday and has filed for bankruptcy, according to a statement from the carrier.

Primera cited “several unforeseen misfortunate [sic] events” over the past two years, including delays in aircraft deliveries this year and the cost of rebuilding an aircraft with severe corrosion problems in 2017.



Last Friday, Delta Air Lines’ CEO Ed Bastian told the audience at the Skift Global Forum in New York that the airline would soon be offering free in-flight Wi-Fi to all of its passengers. Though Bastian neglected to attach an exact timeline to his claim, he noted that the plan comes in response to Delta passengers’ vocal desire for fast, free connectivity. “I don’t know of anywhere else, besides in an airplane, that you can’t get free Wi-Fi,” Bastian opined. “We’re going to make it free.”



Hilton Worldwide Holdings (HLT.N) plans to more than double its hotels in Africa in the next five years by mainly striking deals with existing hotels for conversion into its brand, its chief executive said.

International chains, including Marriott International (MAR.O) and Hyatt Hotels (H.N), have been increasing their investments in Africa, which has some of the world’s fastest growing economies and a rising middle class.

Hilton plans to introduce its Curio Collection, an upscale hotel brand, on the continent, starting with a hotel at Lagos airport in Nigeria, Chris Nassetta, the company’s president and CEO, said.



The Philippines will limit the number of visitors setting foot on its most treasured island resort each day when it reopens to tourists on October 26 after a six-month rehabilitation effort, an environment official said on Wednesday.

Boracay, located off the northern tip of the central island of Panay, is famed for its sugary white sands, turquoise waters, lively nightlife and abundant water sports, which attracted nearly 2 million domestic and foreign visitors last year.
